I love to crochet. I’m super into color combos + cozy yarn. I really feel like it helps me relax, rejuvenate and heal. Plus I make cool stuff for my family like our grandmothers did for us {like that blankie that my auntie made for me when my mother was pregnant, and yes I still have it }
It is really easy to learn. {pinky promise. If I can teach an 8 year old boy to crochet, you can learn too} I made this video to show you the beginning stitches to help you make your first project… either a washcloth {use cotton yarn if you do} or a scarf {use cozy yarn for this one}:
This video covers the basics of crochet like: how to pick a hook, what yarn to use, how to hold the hook + how to make the following stitches:
- chain
- single crochet
- double crochet
- slip stitch
I also show you how to turn your work and build upon those foundation stitches to get you ready to make anything {granny squares perhaps? Or maybe a hexie blankie?} your little crafty heart desires!
I’m always posting pics of my crochet projects HERE. If you use this video to learn, PLEASE tag me {@indielovely} in a pic of your first crochet project so I can see it!

I would LOVE to learn how to crochet like this–I like verbal and visual in real-time rather than still pictures in a book, so something like this would be great!
I know crochet stitches, but have never followed a pattern. Patterns intimidate me and I guess its the fear of “not doing it right”. Now I don’t have an excuse to not try a hexie! :-!
the #1 things that keeps me from learning to crochet is that i don’t have time to devote to it right now. it is on my bucket list, though.
